Ireland's Mona McSharry recorded her fastest time of the World Aquatics World Cup in Astana, Kazakhstan to complete the breastroke triple crown.

The Olympic bronze medallist added to her wins in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan to make it a clean sweep and earn $10,000 in prize money.

McSharry topped the morning heats for the third-straight week with a time of 1:04.39 to ensure a central lane for the final.

The 26-year-old would then produce even better with a time of 1:04.03, just outside her 2025 Irish record to seal a third gold in the series ahead of Russia's Evgeniia Chikunova and Tes Schouten of the Netherlands.

"There was definitely a bit of pressure (this week)," the County Sligo woman told World Aquatics.

"You want to be able to get better and swim faster and I was able to do that, so I'm happy.

"Having the tactics to be able to calm the nerves is really important and, just going back to being confident in my ability."

McSharry is back in the pool on Friday for the 200m breaststroke.

Ellen Walshe finished fourth in the 400m individual medley with her second-fastest time in the World Cup series of 4:29.27.

The race was won by China's Yu Yiting who completed her own triple crown with an Asian record of 4:22.74.

Walshe also returns to action on Friday for the 100m individual medley and 200m backstroke.
