NFL fans were not impressed by the national anthem performance from a music icon before the Week 6 Monday Night Football game.
The Washington Commanders and San Francisco 49ers stood by watching while the Star-Spangled Banner was performed.
Pat Monahan, the lead singer of Train, and his 14-year-old son, Rock, performed the national anthem together on MNF at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco.
But the father-and-son dynamic didn’t stop NFL fans from ripping it.
Fans criticized Monahan and his son’s vocals and the instrumentals from the 14-year-old who was playing a heavy metal guitar.
“Might be worst national anthem I’ve seen #MNF,” one wrote on X.
“It was going fine until his son started singing,” another commented.
“Omg I don’t think I have ever heard the National Anthem butchered like that! Who was that??” a third said.
“Easily the worst rendition of the national anthem by a professional singer I can remember,” a fourth added.
