Estudiantes de La Plata reported a total club liability of 38,539 million pesos, marking a 21.47% reduction in its debt obligations during its Ordinary General Assembly held at the Estadio UNO, Diario El Día de La Plata reported. The meeting, which began at 10:00 local time on a Saturday with club president Juan Sebastián Verón in attendance, brought together members to review the institution’s financial health, approve the latest accounting statements, and vote on the economic-financial budget for the 2026-2027 period.
During the presentation led by the club’s leadership, Estudiantes announced an operating fund generation of 24,851 million pesos alongside an accounting result of 457 million pesos for the exercise. The updated balance sheet figures indicate that the club’s remaining liabilities now account for 18% of its total assets. Among the key improvements cited in the financial report was a 41% decrease in debt tied to the player transfer market, complemented by a 14% drop in ordinary operational expenses. Additionally, the institution recorded 1,000 million pesos in working capital.
Revenue streams also showed marked improvement across multiple sectors. The club registered a 32% increase in income derived from international cup competitions, a 95% surge in commercial advertising and marketing revenue, and a 6% growth in membership dues.
Members also evaluated and considered the institutional budget covering July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. The financial planning accounts for an estimated annual inflation rate of 25%, with parallel projected increases of 25% for labor agreements and membership fees. On the sporting side, the budget factors in participation in the group stage of the 2027 Copa Sudamericana, building upon the club’s progression to the quarterfinals of the 2026 Torneo Clausura. The incoming financial plan projects an initial cash reserve of 5,946 million pesos and a closing cash balance of 5,165 million pesos, alongside anticipated player sales totaling 10 million dollars.
The assembly highlighted an expansion in the club’s membership base. Estudiantes reached 63,002 active members by October 2026, driven by an institutional campaign to recruit new associates. Secretary of Finance Juan Martín Ongay emphasized the financial importance of the growing membership during the presentation. Furthermore, club leadership noted that the capital invested across the previous four transfer windows equaled 90% of the total cost required to construct the Estadio Jorge Luis Hirschi.
These figures stand in contrast to the financial exercise covering July 1, 2024, to June 30, 2025, when the club recorded a deficit of 14,277 million pesos—its first in eleven years of administration—following a strategic decision to prioritize sporting retention over player sales, as reported by Estudiantes de La Plata. That earlier period saw professional player acquisitions reach 17 million dollars while total liabilities grew by 16.7 million dollars.
The board’s inclusion of 10 million dollars in player sales within the 2026-2027 budget forms part of the economic and financial projections presented during the assembly.
