HORRIFYING details have emerged after an NFL fan went viral for allegedly duct-taping his wife to a chair so he could watch Sunday Night Football.
Terry Ward, a 64-year-old from Richmond, Virginia, is now facing felony assault and abduction charges after he allegedly restrained his wife in their home.
The Richmond Police Department was called to the $675,000 home around 11:30pm on October 11 and spoke with Ward’s wife, who told them she was taped to a chair and kept in the basement, according to a police report obtained by the New York Post.
The incident went viral after sources told Virginia Statewide Incidents that Ward was allegedly watching football upstairs while his wife was kept in the basement.
One officer noted seeing tape markings around both of the wife’s arms, the police report said.
The wife believes she was restrained for about 30 to 45 minutes, NBC affiliate WFLA reported.
Ward allegedly told police “that he did indeed tie his wife … to a chair and place her down in the basement.”
Police were not able to confirm to The Post whether the 64-year-old war veteran was watching football while his wife was allegedly restrained.
Officers however, were called to the home around the time the Atlanta Falcons and Baltimore Ravens game ended in overtime.
Ward is a graduate of West Point and served in the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm, where he was awarded the Bronze Star, The Post reported, citing a webpage by Alcova Mortgage.
He is a father to two adult children, and social media posts show him and his wife smiling together in several photos.
One image from several years ago shows Ward, wearing a New England Patriots hat, sitting next to his wife in a hot tub.
Ward was arrested on October 11 and posted a $20,000 bond the next morning.
He has been ordered to avoid contact with his wife and to stay 1,000 feet away from their home.
The 64-year-old is also not allowed to leave the state of Virginia or possess a firearm and has to submit to drug and alcohol testing.
Ward is scheduled for a court appearance on November 10.
