A FOX NFL legend has been tipped to replace Troy Aikman on Monday Night Football in the wake of his fiery feud with Joe Buck.
The Buck and Aikman drama has dominated headlines in recent weeks following a private spat that has since become very public.
It has all stemmed from Buck being handed a mega six-year, $108 million extension while Aikman remains in the dark about his ESPN future.
The pair were both on five-year deals due to expire at the end of this season, culminating with calling the Super Bowl.
But with ESPN apparently choosing Buck over Aikman, the latter apparently felt betrayed by his colleague over the way he has dealt with it.
At the very least, ESPN will allow Aikman’s contract to expire before making a decision on who will be in the MNF booth next year.
And now the network has been strongly tipped to pursue Fox NFL icon Greg Olsen should they feel the need to move on from Aikman.
Olsen is similarly out of contract with Fox at the end of this season and will inevitably be one of the hottest commodities for a No.1 spot.
The legendary former NFL tight end was demoted by Fox when they decided to bring on board Tom Brady on a 10-year, $375 million deal.
He is still demonstrating his elite broadcasting ability in their No.2 booth but it is clearly one step below where he should be.

Per The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, Olsen is the clear frontrunner to replace Aikman if all the dominos fall into place.
Based on recent reports, in which more details of the Buck-Aikman fiery feud continue to emerge, it is a strong possibility that Aikman’s time at ESPN will be over at the end of the season.
The rising tension between the pair saw Aikman have a tense one-hour chat with ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro before MNF in Week 5.
That was the very game where Buck and Aikman had their now widely-reported spat before the Bills-Rams showdown.
The conversation came to a conclusion with one key question from Pitaro, “Could you still work with Joe?”
He responded that he could, although what transpired later that evening with Buck being forced to ‘break the ice’ might have indicated otherwise.
Considering that ESPN have already made their first big move by extending Buck and not Aikman, the writing appears to be on the wall for the latter.
There is a possibility that Aikman returns to the Cowboys in a front office capacity, having been spotted with Jerry Jones ahead of an MNF game recently.
