Brentford v Liverpool – Brentford to win

Brentford host Liverpool on Saturday as they look to preserve their unbeaten start to the Premier League season. Liverpool arrive in West London fresh from their 6-3 win over LASK Linz in the Champions League.

The Bees are on an incredible run of form, having gone 12 games without defeat. Keith Andrews’ side haven’t lost a Premier League fixture since the beginning of May, and at the Gtech Community Stadium, they’ve gone unbeaten in the league since February. The home side took four of the six points available against Liverpool last season, drawing at Anfield and winning 3-2 at home last October.

As for Liverpool, the Reds bounced back from their defeat to Manchester City last weekend with that 6-3 win in midweek. It was a much-changed starting XI for Liverpool, with the game against Brentford being the main priority. Andoni Iraola will be without Ryan Gravenberch, who is suspended after being sent off against Man City last weekend.

The away side have yet to find their scoring boots in the Premier League this season, scoring just seven goals in six matches and conceding the same number. The Reds will also face late fitness tests for the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexander Isak. Should they fail to pass them, Liverpool will be short of options for their trip to the Gtech.

Fulham v Hull – Draw

Fulham face Hull City at home this weekend, with pressure mounting on Alvaro Arbeloa in the Fulham dugout. This game could well be seen as an early six-pointer for both sides. The Cottagers have started the season terribly, with no wins in their opening six Premier League matches. Their woes were compounded last weekend when they squandered a 1-0 lead against Ipswich in the dying moments of the game, with goals from Abdoul Ouattara and Dara O’Shea snatching victory away from Arbeloa’s side.

Hull City have fared better than Fulham in terms of points. However, the Tigers are also looking to end their winless run. The visitors have failed to win any of their last five games, and their last league victory came at the end of August, when they beat Coventry City 1-0. Hull’s record against Fulham is poor, with the Cottagers having won the last four meetings without conceding a goal.

Man City v Ipswich – Man City to win

Manchester City suffered a midweek defeat to reigning European champions Paris Saint-Germain and must now turn their attention to the Premier League as they welcome Ipswich Town to the Etihad Stadium.

The Citizens have been perfect in the Premier League this season, with six wins from their opening six matches, including notable victories over Manchester United (1-0) and Liverpool (3-0). Enzo Maresca’s side have the second-best attack in the division, with 16 goals scored, behind only Brighton & Hove Albion. Their home record has been excellent in the Premier League, with six wins from their last seven matches at the Etihad. Their only defeat during that run came in Pep Guardiola’s farewell fixture against Aston Villa.

Ipswich Town travel to Manchester off the back of a vital win against potential relegation rivals Fulham. The Tractor Boys have picked up nine points this season, but six of those have come at home. The visitors haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last nine games, and they have come unstuck against stronger opposition, losing to the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool.

Newcastle v Aston Villa – Aston Villa to win

Newcastle United take on Aston Villa in the late kick-off on Saturday, as the hosts look to recover from their devastating 4-1 defeat against newly promoted Coventry City.

The Magpies have now lost by a 4-1 scoreline in two of their previous three league matches, and that puts their current form at one win in four league games, which was against newly promoted Hull City at home. The hosts have gone three matches without a clean sheet and were missing key players on Monday, including Toni Livramento and Anthony Elanga.

As for the visitors, the opening weeks of the campaign had been a typically slow start from Unai Emery’s side, but their recent form has certainly improved, and they’ll be confident in facing a side that have shipped so many goals of late. The Villains enter this game with no defeats in their last five matches across all competitions, and were impressive in their 6-0 win over Fenerbahce in the Champions League action midweek.

The travelling side have picked up four points from their last two league games, and last season they were victorious in this league fixture with a 2-0 win at St.James Park.
