Erne Gaels beat Derrygonnelly to set up St Eunan’s tie

For this three in a row victory is very special.

“It is the stuff of dreams and for the past few years it has been said that  we fell over the line, but in this victory, we showed we really deserved it.

“I just love playing for Belleek and am so delighted to be part of a really special group of lads.

“These are truly our golden days."

And Erne Gaels will respect Ulster club opponents St Eunan’s but will not fear them.

That is the clear message from Erne Gaels hero Ultan Kelm as the sides collide in the Ulster Club Championship in Brewster Park in a fortnight.

Kelm was simply magnificent in his side’s big win over Derrygonnelly.

But he is well aware of the threat Eunan’s pose after Kieran Tobin’s late winner gave them a deserved win in the Donegal decider.

“I saw the highlights of the last bit of the Donegal county final.

“Eunan’s are littered with quality all over the pitch with great athleticism with that last point from Ciaran Moore really something else.

“That is a strength of theirs in that they come to the fore at the tail end of the game.

“That is something we have too.”

Kelm added that the sheer quality of Shaun Patton’s kick outs gives the Letterkenny lads something else.

“Shane O’Donnell and Niall O’Donnell are two great forwards and Caolan Ward, who marked me a few times in county matches is a very experienced defender.

“And Conor O’Donnell (Snr) is a great lasder and they will know a lot about us and Kieran Donnelly was at the match today and he knows a lot about us as well.”

But this is the next step for the Gaels and one they are looking forward to.

“The first year we played Scotstown in difficult circumstances, and last year we got a win over Kingscourt.

“We showed in patches what we could do and we were not happy with how we played against Kilcoo last year.”

Asked can they beat Eunan’s he said: “You wouldn’t be there if you didn’t.

“They have the experience of winning the club championship a few years ago as well.

“We will have a lot of fires to put out against them.

“But we are progressing as a team, and we played very close to our very best today.

“So we are really looking forward to meeting them on home turf.

“And we will be focusing on ourselves."
