Milwaukee Brewers fans have waited 44 years for a chance to see their team in the World Series, and many are demonstrating that they’re willing to pay any price, and go any distance, to do so, setting a record for World Series ticket prices for this weekend’s games.
Ticket marketplace SeatGeek says that the average price for a Game 1 ticket stood at $2,900 as of Thursday evening, which would be a record if not for the $3,000 average for Saturday’s Game 2. The cheapest price available on SeatGeek as of Friday morning stood at $2,269 for standing room tickets, with the highest price at $9,000.
The previous World Series ticket price records were for Game 3 at Yankee Stadium in 2024, and Game 7 in Toronto last year, which both had average prices at about $2,300.
Many Brewers fans are apparently finding cheaper tickets by going to Tampa Bay, where the average prices paid for games 3 through 5 this coming week stand at between $1,300 to $1,400 on SeatGeek. About one quarter of all those Tampa Bay tickets purchased went to buyers in Wisconsin, according to both SeatGeek and rival site StubHub, which does not release ticket prices.
The prices don’t quite compare to what fans pay for Super Bowl tickets or for the games at Madison Square Garden in New York to see the Knicks try for their first NBA title in 53 years back in June.
New York is not only a larger market, but Madison Square Garden is a much smaller venue with far fewer available seats. But the Milwaukee tickets are 45% higher than the average price paid by fans in San Antonio, a similar smaller market to Milwaukee, to see Game 1 of the NBA finals.
