T20I cricket has witnessed a remarkable transformation in batting standards, with teams increasingly adopting an aggressive approach right from the opening overs. Even India‘s bowling attack, which boasts several experienced international performers, has faced some serious challenges in containing opposition batters during the 2026 season. The Men in Blue have conceded some enormous totals this year, with multiple teams producing extraordinary power-hitting displays.

Interestingly, the five highest team totals recorded against India in T20I cricket have all come in 2026. New Zealand recently climbed to the top of this list after producing a breathtaking batting performance in the fourth T20I at Eden Park, Auckland, on October 30. Their total of 259/7 surpassed England‘s previous record of 257/3, setting a new benchmark for opposition teams against India in the shortest format.

5 highest team totals against India in T20Is

1. New Zealand – 259/7 in Auckland, October 30, 2026

New Zealand created history in the fourth T20I against India by registering the highest-ever team total against the Men in Blue. Batting first at Eden Park after India elected to bowl, the hosts put together a phenomenal 259/7 in their allotted 20 overs, thanks largely to an extraordinary century from Glenn Phillips.

The right-handed batter continued his impressive run in the series, smashing 107 runs off just 49 deliveries. His explosive innings featured six fours and 10 sixes, with the highlight being a 46-ball century that brought the home crowd to its feet. Phillips became only the second New Zealand batter to score a T20I hundred against India. Michael Bracewell provided equally destructive support, hammering 65 off just 25 balls. The duo also stitched together a remarkable 100-run partnership, putting the Indian bowling attack under immense pressure.

For India, Mayank Yadav emerged as the leading wicket-taker with figures of 3/48, but his efforts could not prevent New Zealand from posting a record-breaking total. Phillips eventually departed in the final over, caught by Abhishek Sharma off Nitish Kumar Reddy, after putting the hosts in a commanding position. The Black Caps’ 259/7 not only became their highest T20I total but also the highest score ever recorded at Eden Park in T20 cricket.

2. England – 257/3 in Southampton, July 11, 2026

England previously held the record for the highest T20I total against India after producing a sensational batting performance in the fifth T20I at Southampton.

Jos Buttler led the assault with a magnificent 131 off just 64 deliveries, smashing 12 fours and eight sixes. Harry Brook provided excellent support, remaining unbeaten on 95 from 45 balls, which included four boundaries and eight maximums. The duo added a massive partnership for the second wicket, taking England past the 250-run mark.

For India, Shivam Dube was the most successful bowler, claiming two wickets despite conceding 22 runs in his only over. Prasidh Krishna picked up one wicket, while the remaining bowlers struggled to contain the English batters. England finished at 257/3, maintaining a scoring rate of 12.85 runs per over. They subsequently restricted India to 201/8, securing a comfortable 56-run victory.

3. West Indies – 252/4 in Ranchi, October 9, 2026

West Indies produced one of the most remarkable run chases in T20I history during their second T20I against India at the JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. After India posted 249/5, the Caribbean batters responded with an extraordinary display of power-hitting. Captain Shai Hope led from the front, smashing an unbeaten 102 off just 45 deliveries, including six fours and nine sixes.

Sherfane Rutherford was equally destructive, scoring 84 from only 37 balls with seven fours and seven sixes. Romario Shepherd added further fireworks with an unbeaten 34 off 13 deliveries as West Indies chased down the target in just 18.3 overs. Mayank was India’s standout bowler, claiming three wickets for 36 runs. However, his efforts could not prevent the visitors from reaching 252/4 and registering a six-wicket victory.

4. West Indies – 247/3 in Hyderabad, October 14, 2026

West Indies continued their remarkable run of aggressive batting in the fourth T20I against India in Hyderabad, producing another massive total. Hope once again starred with the bat, registering an unbeaten 102 off 50 deliveries. His innings featured four boundaries and nine sixes. Shimron Hetmyer provided explosive support with 33 off just 12 balls, while Sherfane Rutherford remained unbeaten on 49 from 26 deliveries.

Rovman Powell also contributed 24 runs off 17 balls as West Indies finished at 247/3 in their 20 overs. India’s bowling attack struggled throughout the innings. Prince Yadav, Axar Patel and Arshdeep Singh picked up one wicket apiece, while Mayank conceded 52 runs without taking a wicket. In response, India managed 223 runs in 19.3 overs. Sanju Samson top-scored with 56 off 23 balls, while Nitish Kumar Reddy contributed 41 from 20 deliveries. However, their efforts were insufficient as West Indies secured a 24-run victory.

5. England – 246/7 at Wankhede, March 5, 2026

England complete the list with their 246/7 against India in the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium.
