Deveronside hosted West Park United and Caden Beaton’s 12 minute goal quickly cancelled out the visitors’ opener.

However, two goals just before half time and two just after put the West of Scotland League side on course for a 5-1 victory.

On Championship league business, New Elgin gave new management team Johnny Mitchell and David Christie a winning start, and a second straight victory for the Pinefield side.

They won 4-2 at home to a Forres Thistle side still looking for their first points of the campaign.

A horror first few minutes didn’t help Thistle’s cause.

Ryan McPherson headed the home side in front from a corner on four minutes, and the same player made it 2-0 with a penalty rebound after Kasper Kwolik was upended in the box by John Fowler - his initial kick was saved by keeper Logan Urquhart.

Thistle’s Ian Wilson rounded New Elgin keeper Connor Mcleod but his effort was cleared off the line by Ross Kelman, and a penalty claim was turned down after Wilson went down in the melee.

Kwolik then scored direct from a free kick just before half time, making it 3-0 at the break.

Forres came out battling in the second half and Fowler atoned for his penalty concession by heading home a free kick from half time sub Andy Stewart on 52 minutes.

Kayden Davies hit the post for the home side before Forres got a second goal back in bizarre circumstances on 84 minutes.

Aly Riddle floated in a free kick from 40 yards out and home keeper McLeod totally misjudged it and it dropped into the net.

Forres were on the hunt for an equaliser and McLeod did well to keep out another Riddle free kick. From the resulting corner, Andy Stewart rattled the New Elgin bar from the edge of the box.

The home side were hanging on and survived again when a Scott Stewart drive went over. Deep into time added on, Stewart was shown a second yellow card and dismissed.

The final act came as a big relief for New Elgin as Ben Cruickshank broke down the right and cut back for sub Simon Lobban to score and clinch the three points.

Islavale clocked up their biggest win of the season with a 6-0 success at Whitehills.

They struck early in fortunate circumstances as Brodi Smith’s long throw was turned into his own net by Branden Watson.

Vale missed a few chances to add to their first half tally, but another won goal early in the second period, this time from Sunny McGrath made it 2-0.

The Keith hosts stepped up a gear and Lossie United loanee Keenan Souter forced in number three, shortly before Owen Watson netted from close range.

Mikey Ewen curled in a superb free kick on 75 minutes and the veteran added number six with a near post finish.

Buckie Rovers’ fine start continued with a 2-2 draw at Glentanar.

A flurry of goals just before half time saw the Aberdeen team twice take the lead, with Nikki Soutar’s goal briefly getting Rovers back on terms.

Russell McLaughlin’s goal just after the hour completed the scoring and kept Buckie firmly in contention in the leading pack.

On-form Aberdonians Westdyke won for the second time this season at Burghead Thistle, adding a 5-0 league success to their 5-1 League Cup victory at Forest Park.

Dufftown went down 5-2 at undefeated leaders Stoneywood-Parkvale.

After going 2-0 down in the first half, the Toonsers were thrown a lifeline by Scott Bowie’s goal right on half time.

The Aberdonians then struck twice in a minute after the break and although Owen Hepburn got another one back, a fifth Stoneywood-Parkvale goal in the final ten minutes sealed the points.
