Daniel Dubois Linked To Title Defence Against Former World Heavyweight Champion

Daniel Dubois is looking to line up the second defence of his WBO world title.

‘DDD’ won the belt after beating Fabio Wardley in early 2026 in what was called the fight of the year. The two British heavyweights went hard at each other for 11 rounds, with Wardley knocking Dubois down twice early on.

The former IBF champion rallied and got a foothold in the fight, eventually turning Wardley’s face into a bloody mess that forced the referee to step in and stop the contest with one round to go.

The rematch happened in early October, and though the result was the same, the fight was quite different. Dubois landed a huge right hand just seconds into the contest and Wardley was unable to properly recover and was then stopped in the second round.

Dubois is now 29 years old, and though he had said he would be keen to fight Tyson Fury should he come through his December battle with Anthony Joshua, it looks as though he could well face another former world champion.

The Ring Magazine is reporting that New Zealand’s Joseph Parker could be in the frame as his next defence.

New Zealander Parker once held the WBO title after beating Andy Ruiz but has not fought since he was beaten by Wardley in 11 rounds in October last year.

Soon after, he failed an Anti-Doping test, having returned an adverse analytical finding for benzoylecgonine, but has always protested his innocence.

His suspension was lifted back in August as it was confirmed that his test was the result of his “exposure to cocaine used by the nutritionist he had employed” ahead of the fight with Wardley.

Parker is now 34 and would likely jump at the chance to return in a world title fight as he seeks to get back to the same great form that saw him beat the likes of Zhilei Zhang and Deontay Wilder before his ban.
