Tiptree golfer Ashley Bannister hits two holes-in-one

The Potters Resorts Five Lakes Golf Club member achieved the remarkable feat just five days apart, with both aces coming courtesy of her nine-iron.

Her first arrived at Hoebridge Golf Club in Woking, where she was playing with her son Blaine and two of his friends.

Bannister stepped onto the 12th tee having never previously witnessed a hole-in-one in person, let alone achieved one herself.

“I took my nine-iron and hit a lovely tee shot that bounced and had a short roll straight into the hole,” she said.

“I thought to myself, ‘Wow, that’s going to be close.’

“I was so happy when I saw the ball drop in the hole. We were all celebrating on the tee. What a wonderful feeling.”

But remarkably, Bannister did it all over again just five days later during the Ladies Autumn meeting at Potters Resorts Five Lakes.

And before teeing off at the seventh, she even predicted what was about to happen.

“One of the ladies in my four-ball mentioned that the pin was in a nice position and I said, ‘Yes, definitely, there will be a hole-in-one here today,’” said Bannister.

“Again, I hit a decent shot from the tee box with my nine-iron and saw the ball bounce and roll straight into the hole.

“I could not believe my eyes and was far too scared to celebrate before I got to the hole.

“My playing partner, Claire, was adamant it was in, but I just could not believe it.

“We celebrated on the green when I saw it was definitely in the hole.”

The second ace made an already special Autumn golf day particularly memorable, with Bannister and her fellow players celebrating over a meal afterwards.

Adding to the remarkable coincidence, the Ladies’ Captain had presented Bannister with a hole-in-one ball marker commemorating her first ace that same day.

Bannister asked her playing partners to sign both golf balls as keepsakes.

“Both hole-in-ones were such a wonderful experience, and I highly recommend it to anyone!” she joked.
