3 Nets takeaways from 136-109 loss to Pascal Siakam, Pacers

NEW YORK -- The Brooklyn Nets (0-3) had proven to themselves that they could keep up with the likes of the Cleveland Cavaliers after nearly erasing a 22-point deficit on the road. Given that Brooklyn was potentially one or two possessions away from notching their first win of the season, they were hoping to fix those issues against the visiting Indiana Pacers (2-1).

The Nets lost to the Pacers on Sunday 136-109 as Brooklyn seemingly dropped the ball on both ends of the floor after a first quarter where they trailed Indiana just 26-24. Guard Nolan Traore had 17 points and five assists in 25 minutes off the bench while forward Josh Minott had 15 points and eight rebounds in 21 minutes, also off the bench.

From the beginning of the second quarter, the Nets weren't able to find their rhythm on either end of the court and they allowed Tyrese Haliburton to put up 24 points and 10 assists to lead both teams in those categories. Indiana has always played at a fast pace, but the Nets weren't able to keep up with their pace and their play on both ends of the floor suffered.

Nolan Traore Shines Despite Blowout Loss

Despite the Nets falling behind by as many as 27 points in this contest, Traore was able to find his rhythm getting to the rim and expanding his offensive game in probably the fastest-paced game the team will play this season. Traore had some tough matchups in this one with players like Tyrese Haliburton and Quenton Jackson on the other side, but the second-year guard did not back down.

Josh Minott Makes The Most Of His Minutes

Minott began seeing minutes in the rotation in Saturday's matchup against the Cavaliers as head coach Jordi Fernandez was looking for a spark to the comeback, but Minott appeared to retain his spot against the Pacers. Minott brings a blend of athleticism and shotmaking that the Nets have been utilizing since he came to the team last season and even in a blowout, he was still playing hard on both ends of the floor.

Nets Drop The Ball In The Second Half

Not only have the Nets began this season with a 0-3 record, but the issue also seems to be the team playing well for all four quarters as evidenced by the losses to the Cavaliers and the Pacers. As Nets legend Vince Carter pointed out during the Cavaliers game, Brooklyn has to do better coming together as a team when adversity hits and the players haven't gotten to that point as of yet.
