Cardinale emotional after Milan derby win: “It makes me want to cry”

Gerry Cardinale could not hide his delight after AC Milan beat city rivals Inter to win the derby 3-1 on Saturday night.

It was a memorable night for Milan at San Siro as they claimed the bragging rights for the fourth time in a row with a commanding win. Christian Pulisic, Adrien Rabiot and Diego Moreira all scored in the first half to put the Rossoneri on course, and they would see out the win from there.

The Milan owner was present at the game having spent the week in Italy, and he must have been much happier witnessing the performance this evening as opposed to the one on Wednesday when the Diavolo let a 2-1 lead slip in the second half to lose 4-2.

Cardinale left the stadium after the full-time whistle and he gave an interview in the mixed zone to Michael Cuomo of TeleLombardia. His words were relayed by MilanNews.

“An incredible night. Playing a game every three days, overcoming injuries, having our full squad back… And look at these guys, these guys are winners. It makes me want to cry. It’s fantastic. The best night. We’ll build on it.”
