Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich has addressed the recent discussion surrounding his role with the German national team, insisting that his focus remains entirely on his performances rather than the noise around him.

The FC Bayern star also made it clear that he had no issue with Jürgen Klopp’s handling of the situation, including the decision to communicate his reasoning rather than offer additional public backing.

Kimmich explained his mindset and admitted he would have liked to remain with the national team for the entire four-game period, particularly after Jamal Musiala’s injury opened up the possibility of another opportunity.

”To be honest, I didn’t really follow it, but you still hear about it when there’s a bit of a stir. I’ve been here for eleven years now. I know how this business works. The only thing I can and must focus on is my own performance. That’s what I’ve done for the past eleven years, and that’s what I’ll continue to do. In the end, the best players always play. Over the past ten years, I’ve done a pretty good job of being one of the best. That’s my goal, and that’s what I work towards every day,” Kimmich told Bild. “I’ll make sure I deliver every three days. Of course, I would have liked to stay [for the entire 4 games], especially when Jamal got injured. After that, I thought, ‘Well, Jamal was supposed to be available for both weeks, so perhaps another door might open, perhaps another opportunity might present itself.’”

Asked whether he would have preferred more public support from Klopp, Kimmich dismissed the suggestion.

”No, not at all. He simply described the situation as it was. He made it perfectly clear from the outset. He communicated his decision and explained the reasoning behind it as well. So, from my perspective, that was absolutely fine. Everything was clear,” Kimmich remarked.

For Kimmich, the message is straightforward: he intends to let his play do the talking and believes that continuing to perform at the highest level will ensure he remains among Germany’s best options.
