Titans RB Julius Chestnut named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week

Most of the news about the Tennessee Titans this week has focused on defensive tackle Jordan Elliott's release and the fallout from the incident, which has dulled the glow of the team's first win of 2026. It has also overshadowed special teams ace Julius Chestnut's performance against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 6.

That should change now, as the NFL named Chestnut AFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his performance in Sunday's win over the Colts. Marking the Titans' 40th AFC Special Teams Player of the Week award, and the first since Chimere Dike in 2025.

Chestnut led the charge and second-half comeback with a tone-setting tackle to open the half, then delivered the dagger by blocking a Rigoberto Sanchez punt in the fourth quarter, which directly turned into points when Oluwafemi Oladejo returned it for a touchdown. This gave Tennessee its first lead (20-13) and helped them maintain momentum.

A special teams standout, Chestnut is often praised by coordinator John “Bones” Fassel as the unit's leader and leads the Titans in special teams tackles in 2026.
