Michael Carrick says he won’t be sacked by Manchester United after Chelsea loss

Michael Carrick remains in charge of Manchester United.

Despite reports following a three-nil home defeat against Bournemouth, the club legend remained in charge with backing from the club’s senior officials.

Now the 45-year-old’s side have made it nine without a win after defeat at Chelsea.

Things keep going from bad to worse, and the Red Devils are slumped down in the relegation zone of the Premier League table.

When asked post-match if he will still be in charge at Old Trafford for Roma’s visit in the UEFA Champions League, Carrick replied post-match on TNT Sports with the simple answer: “Yes.”

Perhaps the United boss is in denial, but after talks with the likes of Director of Football Jason Wilcox and CEO Omar Berrada, he may have an inkling as to how much time he’ll get.

“There is a lot of emotion, we’re a great football club, and we want to win football matches,” Carrick continued.

“The supporters come, make a lot of effort, pay a lot of money to watch us play. You can see from today the boys had the game in the right place and things have gone against us.

“Things have gone against us, and gone against us in a big way. Unravelled quickly. A lot of emotion right now.

“We have got to move forward and take the things that worked for us today. A lot of the good things, especially in the first half and use that moving forward.”

Manchester United fans appreciate Michael Carrick for his efforts as a player for the club – where he played 464 times across 12 years, but are recognising that the former Middlesbrough boss is not quite cut out for the head coach role at Old Trafford.

There may be other issues in the building, but the simplest change in October/November is the manager.
