Welcome to our live blog dedicated to all things Manchester United and the latest on the future of head coach Michael Carrick after he was given a stay of execution to lead the team in this weekend's trip to Chelsea.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Glazer Family, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox made the decision after a lengthy conference call to discuss Carrick's future on Monday. The 45-year-old looked destined for the sack after United were comfortably beaten 3-0 by Bournemouth at Old Trafford last Sunday.

However, after United's chiefs disagreed over who to appoint as a replacement, they opted to give Carrick an opportunity to turn the club's results around. It's understood that many United players also have a desire to help Carrick arrest the slump, despite the nature of the team's performances almost suggesting otherwise.

As updates continue to seep out of Old Trafford, the MEN will be here with any and all updates on Carrick's future.
