Andrey Santos spoke about starting life at Manchester United.
Santos showed signs of being a Premier League level midfielder in a pivot pairing with Moises Caicedo at the start of 2026 under Liam Rosenior for Chelsea. However, the former Strasbourg loanee lost his place in the starting eleven, and he decided to pursue pastures new at Old Trafford.
He played with Youri Tielemans in the engine room against Hull City, then lost his spot to Kobbie Mainoo in the middle of the park before the international break.
More playing time has come his way since an injury for the academy graduate, and the summer signing has been patiently biding his time.
“Manchester United is the biggest in the world, so it’s easy to choose Manchester United.
“So, I'm so happy because I'm here. I'm so happy with the staff, my teammates, so I enjoy a lot every day, this moment in my life.
“I know I play against Hull City and then I come out and then I come on again. But like the coach always says for us, every single player from squad, you have to be ready and to prepare yourself because your opportunity is coming, and you have to be ready to try to do your best.”
The squad has also been scrutinised about a toxic culture within the club after comments from two former Ajax associates that moved to Manchester United in recent years.
Erik ten Hag, the former manager of the Red Devils, divulged information about the chaotic management of the club structure, and Lisandro Martínez made his frustrations with the hierarchy known in Madrid last Tuesday.
Santos was questioned about his teammate’s comments, but he wished to put the incident behind him.
“We know the comments about Licha, but I think now it’s done, so we have to move on and focus on [Wednesday.] Nothing happened because, we are on the same page. We always have confidence; we believe in ourselves, in our team-mates, our coach and in our staff. This is the most important thing.”
