Largs Thistle move two fixtures to Billy Gilmour stadium

The original fixtures against Pollok on October 20 and Cumnock on October 28 had been due to take place at Barrfields.

However, the club says a current 9pm planning curfew on its floodlights means the games cannot be played there with their scheduled evening kick-off times.

Thistle have submitted a planning application seeking permission to extend the floodlight operating hours to 10pm on limited occasions, but that application remains under consideration.

As a result, both matches will now be played at Ardrossan Winton Rovers' Billy Gilmour Stadium on Anderson Terrace, with a 7.45pm kick-off for each fixture.

In a statement to supporters, chairman Alistair McMaster said attempts had been made to move the kick-off times forward to 7pm, but agreement could not be reached with the visiting clubs.

He added: "I would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Ardrossan Winton Rovers FC for their very kind assistance in agreeing to host both fixtures, and to the Lowland League West for approving these arrangements. The support and cooperation of both parties are greatly appreciated."

The chairman sought to reassure supporters that season tickets will remain valid for both fixtures despite the change of venue.

The club is also looking into transport arrangements for fans who may have difficulty travelling to Ardrossan, with seats on the club minibus expected to be made available.

Alistair acknowledged the inconvenience caused by the temporary move, describing the situation as being beyond the club's control while planning restrictions remain in place.

He said the club remained hopeful that a positive outcome to the planning application would help prevent similar issues arising in future.

Winton Park in Ardrossan was recently re-named The Billy Gilmour stadium after the Napoli midfielder and Scotland international gave his backing.

It will continue the 25-year-old's strong links to Ardrossan Winton Rovers, who play their home matches at the Ardrossan Community Sports Hub-operated ground.

His father - Billy Snr - is a former player and manager of the club whilst his brother Harvey currently plays for Tony McInally's team, with Billy Snr also having featured in the past for Largs Thistle.
