Tottenham Hotspur made a raft of changes to their squad over the summer, bringing in as many as 10 players and letting go of more than that figure.
Spurs fans were particularly not happy with the club’s decision to sell Luka Vuskovic. After impressing on loan at SV Hamburger during the 2025/26 season, where he emerged as one of the Bundesliga’s best defenders, it was intriguing to see whether his future lay with Tottenham or away from N17. The latter became a reality, as the Lilywhites accepted a £46million bid for the defender from Brighton and Hove Albion.
It hasn’t taken long for Luka Vuskovic to become a fan favourite at the Amex Stadium. The teenage prodigy, who was a part of Croatia’s World Cup squad in the summer, has established himself as a key figure in the Brighton backline. The central defender has impressed with his technical ability, reading of the game, physicality and leadership in the Premier League, further enhancing his reputation across Europe. And there are already suggestions that another big move for him could be on the horizon.
According to an exclusive report from TEAMtalk, Chelsea, Barcelona and Bayern Munich are among European clubs vying for the signing of Vuskovic. He is attracting interest from Europe’s elite despite only joining Brighton a few months ago.
Bayern Munich are monitoring Vuskovic’s progress closely. The German champions tracked the defender’s performances during his time on loan at Hamburg and were interested in him before his move to Brighton. It is understood that the Croatian international would be open to a future move to the Allianz Arena, however; Bayern are currently not in a position to pursue the 19-year-old as they have several central defenders on their books.
The report adds that Chelsea and Barcelona have scouted the former Tottenham man, but Brighton are under no immediate pressure to sell. Vuskovic is under contract until 2031 and has already become an important part of Fabian Hurzeler’s side.
Regarded as one of the most talented defensive prospects in Europe, Vuskovic’s stock has only risen following his strong start in the Premier League. It is easy to see why big European clubs are showing interest in the youngster.
For Spurs, the prospect of the Croatian talent eventually leaving Brighton and joining any of the aforementioned clubs would be particularly frustrating. It will also draw further scrutiny on the North London club’s decision to sell Vuskovic without giving him a chance to showcase his talent. Several clubs are keeping tabs on the Split native because he looks like a player with huge potential who will only get better.
However, one thing the Tottenham bosses did well was add a layer of protection should any club make a move for Vuskovic. The Lilywhites retained matching rights when they sold the lanky centre-half to Brighton, allowing them to match an offer from another club under the terms of the agreement. That does not guarantee the player would return to N17 as he would still have a say in his next destination.
Whether we would actually consider bringing the Croatian starlet back is another question altogether.
