Suarez credits the unique generational blend within Spire’s lineup as a critical factor behind their strong performances this season. The team fields three drivers spanning three distinct age groups and racing mindsets: the young prodigy Carson Hocevar in his early 20s, Suarez himself in his early 30s, and seasoned veteran Michael McDowell in his early 40s. “Carson is in his low 20s. I’m in my low 30s, mid 30s, and Michael is in his low 40s,” Suarez explained. “Sometimes, the gap between Michael and Carson in how they think and operate feels big. I came in at the perfect moment to connect the dots, and it’s worked really well.”
This dynamic has proved invaluable for Suarez’s growth, allowing him to absorb McDowell’s extensive Cup Series experience while also tapping into Hocevar’s youthful perspective. The diversity in driving styles and feedback creates a powerful synergy, enabling Spire to fine-tune setups that maximize performance. “I believe I have a lot of Michael in me and a lot of Carson as well,” Suarez added. “That’s why I feel I’ve helped the entire team connect the dots. Michael and Carson are very different, and there’s a lot that each does better than the other. Learning from both and communicating with them has been fun.”
Beyond the driver chemistry, Suarez expressed strong confidence in the team’s future potential. Citing the impressive partnership with Hocevar as a major inspiration, he revealed that the decision to sign the extension was fueled by the belief that Spire possesses all the ingredients to become a championship contender. “I’ve always known what I’m capable of and what Spire is building with Carson,” Suarez said. “This group has potential. We just need to put the puzzle pieces together. Right now, we’re happy but not satisfied. We’re a greedy organization—we’re competitive and want more. We want a real shot at the championship soon.”
With multiple wins already secured this season, Spire Motorsports and Daniel Suarez appear poised to challenge the established elite. Their balanced driver lineup, combining youth, experience, and mid-career savvy, could prove the secret weapon that propels them into consistent title contention. The closing three races of the 2026 season will be crucial in determining if this partnership can translate its potential into lasting success on NASCAR’s biggest stage.
