The Astros declined Weiss's $5 million club option for 2027 on Thursday, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.

Weiss appeared in just nine games for the Astros this year, during which he gave up 22 earned runs in 26 innings while posting a 30:20 K:BB. His poor performance made declining his option a fairly easy decision, so the team will pay him a $500,000 buyout and send him to free agency. The 29-year-old will likely have to settle for a minor-league deal to land his next opportunity.
