Albion tackle one of this season’s Championship big-hitters at the London Stadium.

Good afternoon from east London and welcome to our live coverage of Albion’s clash at West Ham United in the Championship.

James Morrison’s men are bidding to extend an unbeaten run of three matches after last weekend’s point at Preston with a first trip to face the Irons in front of fans in almost seven years.

See our live coverage from correspondent Lewis Cox below.

Key Events

  • West Ham were winners on both occasions when the clubs last met - in 2020/21 behind closed doors
  • Albion won the last contest in front of fans in the FA Cup at the London Stadium early in 2020
  • James Morrison opts for two Baggies changes.
  • Albion lead through Felix Horn Myhre!

Chance! This could be 3-0.

A rare good corner from Styles is deep and met by Morgan, impossible again, and he heads just over back across goal.

Price made it with wonderful quality.

What a pass forward to the right for Morgan. Stunning. And fair play for Morgan - who repays Morrison’s faith this week with a lovely low ball around goal and Felix Horn Myhre is there to tap into empty net.

Heavy West Ham boos again!

Fine Price lifted ball down the right! Morgan in again! Looks for a cross and turned behind.

Wow what a chance for 2-0! Isaac Price spurns a sitter. All the time but lifts over from fine Morgan work.

That’s a thing of beauty.

Shame as a dangerous Albion corner eventually ends up back at O’Leary but a half-cleared punch had Baggies interested, a pass to Nzingoula was on for a moment, but hosts get away with it.

Oussie’s in the mood. He’s had a flying start here and is scythed down by former Wolves man Kilman, who is rightly booked.

Molumby does well to win it in midfield and is felled and Albion fans chant his name.

Albion are pressing well here. Working hard and winning it on occasion.

West Ham attack now. Good run Austbo down the left and low ball in drops to Kante, he jinks and shoots but Albion work to defend it and Pereira gets a good block in over the top. Corner wasted by hosts.

Great snapping challenge Diakite to win the ball, he’s started ever so well. Morgan finds Nzingoula who can’t beat his man. Unlucky.

Bit of a sighter for the hosts as Morato slips a good pass to compatriot striker Pablo, left side of the Albion boss, but George Campbell tracks the run and gets across to put the frontman off enough. Tame low shot wide at O’Leary’s near post.

Flashpoint. Strong Morrison appeals as Styles goes toppling over a heavy challenge, right on the line of the penalty box after a good low Horn Myhre cross.

Looked like potential penalty territory, but referee Rob Jones deemed no foul and throw-in! Decent from Baggies.

It’s been a quiet start here, no doubt. West Ham had that corner inside a minute, but nothing to write home about since. Albion looking calm enough when they get on the ball. James Morrison said yesterday he just wanted his side to ride a 25 or 30-minute storm and keep in the game.

Just to recap Albion subs for you as I didn’t earlier:

Ingram (gk), Phillips, Townsend, Crowther, Whitwell, Bany, Tunde, Stewart, Heggebo.

West Ham in possession so far, which is no real surprise. Morgan and Horn Myhre pressing in the final third as a ball runs through to O’Leary.

Nuno and Morrison perched on the edge of their prospective technical areas.

Can Albion not concede first or be better from corners?

Well that was a slightly hairy start as the deliver from the right wasn’t really punched by O’Leary but helped back across and turned well over. Got away with it.
