Spalding United's hopes of a plum tie at League One side Plymouth Argyle were ended after a heavy defeat in their FA Cup replay at Alvechurch on the Tuesday night.
The Tulips tumbled to a 4-0 away reversal at the Southern League Premier Division Central hosts on a night to forget for Jimmy Dean's side.
They conceded twice in each half of the fourth qualifying round replay and also saw a second half penalty from Bart Cybulski saved.
The Tulips had travelled to Worcestershire without the injured quintet of skipper Liam Moore, defender Tosin Olopade, midfielder Tom Pugh plus attackers Yusifu Ceesay and Jack Roberts.
Full-back Michael Kelly was also absent with Scunthorpe United loanee Ollie Rose coming into the starting line-up in the only change from Saturday's 2-2 draw at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.
The Tulips started brightly with Cybulski seeing an effort saved by home goalkeeper Redman Evans who was then fortunate not to concede a penalty after appearing to clip Dan Barton but the Tulips' appeals were waved away.
Dan Jarvis drove a shot just wide of the far post before Saturday's two-goal marksman had to be withdrawn through injury and was replaced by Maniche Sani.
Jarvis had been taken off as a precaution on Saturday and his departure sparked Alvechurch's revival as they scored twice in the final seven minutes to earn the replay.
And, within a minute of him being replaced at Lye Meadow, Spalding had fallen behind when Harborough Town loanee Danny Newton slotted home the opening goal for the hosts.
Sani sent a shot into the side-netting before Spalding fell further adrift six minutes before the break when Jamey Osbourne curled home a superb free-kick to double Alvechurch's lead.
Spalding needed a response early in the second half but conceded a third goal within four minutes of the restart as Newton netted his second of the game.
The Tulips rung the changes with Alfie Bendle replacing Sam Straughan-Brown and Zaid Betteka coming on for Ben Fowkes.
However, within two minutes of the substitutions being made, Alvechurch had added a fourth goal through Miracle Okafor.
The Tulips were given a lifeline on the hour mark after being awarded a penalty but Cybulski's spot kick was saved by Evans who also made a smart stop to thwart Bendle late on.
That ended any hopes of an epic comeback for Spalding with Alvechurch now heading to Devon to face the League One high-flyers next month.
