Chelsea legend Eden Hazard has identified Morgan Rogers as the player who reminds him most of his own playing style, heaping praise on the Blues’ marquee summer signing.
The 24-year-old winger, who completed a £117million move from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, has made an electric start to life at Stamford Bridge.
Rogers has already notched four goals and four assists in just eight appearances under new manager Xabi Alonso.
Hazard, speaking via Stake, didn’t hold back in his assessment of the England international.
“Not bad, eh? He’s got experience and he knows how to handle that pressure, I wasn’t worried about him,” Hazard said.
“He knows the league well, so he’s been able to adapt quickly. On top of that, he can score and set up goals, which reminds me of someone, if you see what I mean. I hope he keeps it up.”
The Belgian’s comments carry weight, given his own legendary status at Chelsea.
Hazard also backed the club’s decision to appoint Alonso as manager in the summer of 2026, believing the Spaniard is the right man to lead a title charge.
Chelsea currently sit on 10 points after six league matches, trailing leaders Manchester City and defending champions Arsenal. However, Hazard insists his former club can compete with anyone.
“We’ll be able to compete with everyone this season, and obviously that includes those two sides as well,” he added.
“As long as we’re playing good football and scoring goals, I’m on board.”
Hazard confirmed he plans to return to Stamford Bridge at the end of October to support the team against Manchester United.
