Kylian Mbappe is inevitable. That is the phrase people have been saying in the last few months and years. Everyone is accustomed to his greatness as a football player, and even though he had a bit of a weird slump where he was scoring goals but not playing well, it is fair to say that the Frenchman was able to turn it up when it mattered most.
Mbappe always scores against Barcelona. He loves scoring against them. In fact, they are the team he has scored against the most in his three years at Real Madrid. He has scored eight goals against Barcelona, which is his highest count against any team while playing for Los Blancos.
Second on the list is Real Sociedad with seven, followed by Sevilla and Villarreal with five each. He has played Barcelona quite a few times in his three years at the club, and he has, for the most part, performed well for the team, even if the rest of the squad didn't.
In fact, over his entire career, Mbappe's second-favorite opponent to score against is Barcelona, with 14 goals against them in just 11 games. Montpellier sits at the top, conceding 15 goals to the Frenchman, but in 16 games.
The fact that he has a better goalscoring ratio against a team like Barcelona than a French team that he used to dominate against every single time seems like a crazy statistic.
The main thing now for Mbappe is to convert these goals into more wins. Obviously, he used to beat Barcelona quite comfortably at PSG, but Real Madrid have only won two Clasicos since the Frenchman has joined them, and that is what he needs to change sooner rather than later.
Barcelona fans can easily say that they would rather take a win over their biggest rivals over their favorite player scoring against them and losing the game, and that is also what Real Madrid fans would probably say, too.
Mbappe has scored three goals in two games where Real Madrid have actually beaten Barcelona, and the last win over them on Sunday would give them a lot of confidence going into future Clasicos.
It wasn't like Barcelona played that badly - it was just the fact that Real Madrid were too good, and that is what Mbappe and co. would have to focus on in future games against the Catalans.
