Egypt and Algeria chase CAN de Futsal 2026 bronze in Rabat

Egypt and Algeria will meet for third place at the CAN de Futsal 2026 on Wednesday, 21 October, after both sides were beaten in the semi-finals.

The Pharaons lost 6-0 to hosts Morocco, while Algeria were defeated 3-2 by Angola after surrendering a two-goal lead. Both teams will now aim to finish their campaigns with a place on the podium.

The play-off will be held at the Moulay-Abdellah Hall in Rabat, according to the competition’s official schedule.

Kick-off is set for 17:00 in Morocco. The timing reflects the difference between the two countries: Morocco returned permanently to GMT (UTC+0) on 20 September 2026, while Algeria remains on GMT+1.

The match will therefore begin at 18:00 in Algeria, 19:00 in France and 20:00 in Egypt.

As with all matches at the CAN de Futsal 2026, the game will be available free of charge on CAF TV, the official YouTube channel of the Confederation of African Football. CAF previously announced that all 16 matches in the competition would be shown on its platform.

Arryadia is also expected to broadcast the match in Morocco, having screened the other fixtures in the tournament.

Different ambitions for the two sides

Algeria have already made history in their first appearance at the competition. The Fennecs progressed from the group stage and reached the semi-finals, but they will feel they missed a major opportunity against Angola.

Algeria led 2-0 in that match before Angola fought back to win 3-2, denying them the chance to reach their first continental final.

Egypt’s semi-final defeat was even more emphatic. The three-time African champions were overwhelmed by Morocco, with the Atlas Lions producing a dominant performance to secure a 6-0 victory.

The Pharaons had finished second in Group B behind Angola, while Algeria qualified from Group A in second place behind Morocco.

The third-place play-off consequently carries contrasting significance for the teams. Egypt, the historic reference point of African futsal, will be seeking to restore pride after their heavy semi-final loss.

For Algeria, a bronze medal would cap an already successful tournament and provide further recognition of their progress during their first participation in the competition.
