Didi Dramani calls for structured approach to rebuilding 'scattered' Black Stars

Former Black Stars assistant coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has called for a structured and sustainable plan to rebuild Ghana’s senior national team following their poor start to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

Ghana lost their opening two Group C matches against Ivory Coast and The Gambia, results that led to the departure of head coach Carlos Queiroz.

Dramani believes the team needs unity, continuity and a clear development plan to restore stability and put the Black Stars on a path to long-term progress.

“We need a structured team for now. The team looks scattered, and we need a team, a unit that can bring people together, that can begin to groom the team again,” the former Hearts of Oak coach told 3Sports.

“And this is a process, and that is where we are lacking.”

Dramani also stressed that rebuilding the Black Stars should not be driven solely by the pressure to secure immediate results, but by a consistent strategy built around clearly defined objectives.

He said Ghana must be deliberate in its approach and establish a clear pathway for the team's future.

“We need to be deliberate, we need to be consistent, we need to be sustainable in terms of how we want what we want. Sometimes we don't; you don't really know what we want. We need to have a clear pathway of what we want,” he added.

Meanwhile, Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has been appointed to lead an interim technical team for Ghana’s November doubleheader against Somalia.

Björkegren will work alongside assistants Ibrahim Tanko and Godwin Attram, with Fatawu Dauda serving as goalkeeping coach.

The Black Stars are without a point after two matches and face a difficult task in their bid to qualify for the 2027 AFCON, having missed the previous tournament in Morocco.
