YSFON boss Gawuna charges Flamingos to go for victory

National President of Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON) Dr. Nasiru Gawuna has congratulated the country’s junior women national team, ‘ The Flamingoes for qualifying for the finals of the FIFA Women U-17 World Cup, presently going on in the Kingdom of Morocco.

The Coach Akeem Busari led side Wednesday night defeated Brazil by 3-1 to qualify for the finals for the first time and Gawuna said the girls deserve commendation for making the country proud

According to the one time Deputy Governor of Kano State, the girl’s qualification shows that with adequate grassroots football development which YSFON is championing, Nigeria will go ahead to rule the world in the round leather game.

“I’m highly excited with the performance of the girls. They showed that Nigeria is blessed with abundant talents who are capable of ruling the world in all aspects of sports. And this is what YSFON has been championing  over the years”, he stressed.

Gawuna who is the NDC senatorial candidate for Kano Central Senatorial zone in the 2027 general election, however, charged the team to go all out and bring the trophy home.

“My charge to the team is that they should not be carried away by their victory against Brazil but should go all out on Saturday and defeat Japan and bring the coveted trophy home.

“I want them to realise that Japan is very good in female football and as such they should not take chances when they meet the Asian giants  on Saturday and I wish them good luck as they go into the finals”, he concluded.
