Stephen Curry has moved into 17th place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list after surpassing legendary former guard Oscar Robertson during the Golden State Warriors’ 120-100 victory over the Miami Heat on Thursday night.

The Warriors superstar reached the milestone with a three-pointer 7:03 minutes into the first quarter, taking his career points tally to 26,711 and moving one point ahead of Robertson, who finished his illustrious career with 26,710 points.

The achievement marks the second time in less than a week that Curry has climbed the NBA’s all-time scoring rankings, underlining his continued productivity as he approaches another historic milestone.

Curry finished the contest against Miami with 29 points, shooting nine of 19 from the field and converting six of his 12 attempts from beyond the arc. His contribution helped Golden State secure a sixth consecutive victory and improve its momentum in the 2026-27 campaign.

Before Thursday’s achievement, the four-time NBA champion occupied 18th position on the all-time scoring chart, having recently overtaken former Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Clippers forward Dominique Wilkins.

He surpassed Wilkins, who scored 26,668 career points, after recording 31 points in Golden State’s 112-95 Emirates NBA Cup victory over the Los Angeles Lakers six days earlier.

Curry has now moved past two celebrated figures in the space of six days, further strengthening his position among the most prolific scorers in NBA history.

Curry Targets Another Scoring Milestone

The 38-year-old is already closing in on Denver Nuggets guard DeMar DeRozan, who occupies 16th position with 26,775 career points.

With Curry on 26,711 points following the Miami game, he needs 65 additional points to overtake DeRozan, whose tally stands 64 points ahead of him.

Beyond that immediate target, both players have an opportunity to move past former Houston Rockets centre Hakeem Olajuwon, who sits 15th with 26,946 points.

DeRozan needs 172 points to surpass Olajuwon, while Curry requires another 210 points to reach the same mark.

Curry’s scoring consistency suggests that he could make further significant progress before the end of the season. He has recorded at least 1,630 points in five of his last six campaigns, demonstrating his ability to maintain an elite offensive output despite advancing age.

Although injuries restricted him to 43 appearances last season, during which he scored 1,142 points, a return to the 1,600-point mark in the ongoing campaign could see him climb even higher.

Such a scoring return would put Russell Westbrook (27,176), Elvin Hayes (27,313) and Moses Malone (27,490) within reach, potentially allowing Curry to finish the season inside the top 12.

A Career Defined by Shooting Excellence

Since entering the NBA in 2009, Curry has spent his entire professional career with the Warriors, transforming the franchise into one of the league’s dominant teams.

Selected seventh overall in the 2009 NBA Draft after three seasons at Davidson College, he gradually established himself as one of the greatest point guards in basketball history.

His achievements include four NBA championships in 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022, two regular-season Most Valuable Player awards in 2015 and 2016, and the 2022 NBA Finals MVP.

Beyond his scoring achievements, Curry remains the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers made, having revolutionised the modern game through his exceptional shooting range and accuracy.

His ability to score from beyond the arc has changed offensive strategies across the league, with teams increasingly embracing long-range shooting as a central component of their attacking systems. USA Basketball +1

At 38, Curry continues to demonstrate that he can compete at the highest level, with his latest scoring achievement adding another chapter to an extraordinary career.
