U-17 Women's World Cup: Ghana coach Joe Nana Adarkwa wary of Argentina threat ahead of last 16 clash

Ghana coach Joe Nana Adarkwa says the Black Maidens must be cautious against Argentina as they prepare for a tricky Round of 16 encounter at the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco.

The two sides meet on Wednesday at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, with Ghana aiming to secure a place in the quarter-finals.

Speaking to FIFA Media, Adarkwa acknowledged Argentina's quality and warned his players against leaving gaps at the back during the knockout tie.

“The game will be very, very, very tricky. They are a good side, and we are in the knockout phase, so we are going to be very cautious,” he said.

The Ghana coach also stressed the importance of converting chances, identifying finishing as an area his side must improve.

“We have to take our chances because we are one of the teams in this tournament that have created a lot of chances, but how to convert them is another problem,” he added.

“We're looking forward to it, but we have to be cautious in our back line so that they won't catch us.”

The Black Maidens have shown resilience in the tournament after suffering a 3-0 defeat to Norway in their opening Group C match.

Ghana responded with an entertaining 3-3 draw against Brazil before beating Canada 2-0 in their final group game to progress to the knockout stage as runners-up.

Argentina, meanwhile, finished top of their group unbeaten, setting up a stern test for Adarkwa's side.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 15:00 GMT, with Ghana hoping to build on their improved performances and book a place in the last eight.
