Algerian international Rayan Aït-Nouri is enduring a frustrating start to the 2026/27 season, with limited playing opportunities at Manchester City and his continued absence from the national team raising questions about his current situation.

The 25-year-old left-back has started just one of Manchester City’s 15 matches across all competitions this season, struggling to establish himself as a regular in City’s starting lineup.

His difficult spell has also extended to international football. Aït-Nouri was reportedly left out of Algeria’s previous squad following a disagreement with members of the technical staff, although the circumstances surrounding the alleged dispute have not been officially clarified.

The situation has now taken another disappointing turn, with the Manchester City defender once again missing from Algeria’s latest squad for the upcoming international break.

For a player who arrived at Manchester City with high expectations following his move from Wolverhampton Wanderers, the lack of regular football and consecutive international omissions represent a challenging period in his career.
