Augustine Boakye scores late winner in Saint-Etienne victory over Nantes

Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye scored a dramatic late winner to hand Saint-Etienne a 1-0 victory over Nantes in Ligue 2 on Saturday.

Boakye struck in the 90th minute at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard, securing all three points for Saint-Etienne after a closely contested encounter against their visitors.

Both sides struggled to find a breakthrough during the opening stages, with Saint-Etienne working hard to create clear-cut opportunities while Nantes remained organised defensively.

The match appeared destined to end goalless until Boakye delivered the decisive moment in the closing stages. The goal sparked wild celebrations among the home supporters.

Boakye continues to enjoy an impressive campaign, having recorded six goals and three assists in 10 league appearances this season, underlining his importance to the team's attacking play.

Saint-Etienne will now turn their attention to their next Ligue 2 fixture against En Avant Guingamp (EAG) on October 31, with Boakye expected to remain a key figure in their pursuit of another positive result.
