Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Henry Asante Twum believes the Black Maidens can still revive their campaign at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup despite their disappointing start.
Ghana suffered a 3-0 defeat to Norway in their Group C opener on Sunday, leaving head coach Joe Nana Adarkwa and his players with work to do as they seek to progress to the knockout stage.
However, Asante Twum remains optimistic about Ghana’s chances, insisting the opening loss has not ended their hopes of advancing in the competition.
“The Black Maidens did not start well against Norway, but all is not lost,” he told Asempa FM.
Ghana will now turn their attention to Brazil as they prepare for their second group-stage match on Thursday, 22 October.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 18:00 GMT at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, Morocco, with the Black Maidens needing a positive result to keep their qualification hopes alive.
The encounter offers Ghana an opportunity to respond to their opening defeat and build momentum ahead of their final Group C fixture.
The Black Maidens will conclude their group campaign against Canada on Saturday, 24 October, with kick-off set for 15:00 GMT.
With two matches remaining, Ghana will be aiming to bounce back quickly and secure the results needed to reach the next stage of the tournament.
