Carlos Tevez Sets December Date for Official Boca Juniors Farewell Match

Carlos Tevez will have a farewell match at La Bombonera on December 20 to mark the end of his football career, according to DeporTV.

Social Media Launch Confirms the December Date

The announcement arrived through an Instagram post from the account “Adiós Apache Oficial,” which set the tone for the upcoming tribute. “The date we were all waiting for,” the post stated, using nicknames associated with the player throughout his career, including “el jugador del pueblo” and “el Apache.” The account urged supporters to fill the stadium for the December 20 gathering at La Bombonera in Buenos Aires.

Tevez finished his professional playing career on May 31, 2021, when Boca Juniors lost to Racing Club on penalties in the semifinals of the Copa de la Liga in San Juan. In that match, Tevez missed a penalty kick. Days later, on June 4, he held a press conference at La Bombonera to announce he was leaving the Xeneize, citing the emotional toll following the death of his adoptive father, Segundo Tevez.

He later made his retirement official during an appearance on the television program Animales Sueltos with Alejandro Fantino on June 3, 2022. “I stopped playing because I lost my number one fan,” Tevez said during the broadcast. “As a player, I already gave everything, everything I had inside my heart I gave, and I think that leaves me more than calm.” Following his retirement, he transitioned into management, taking charge of Rosario Central.

Star-Studded Guest List Expected in Buenos Aires

Organizers expect a gathering of prominent figures from across Tevez’s career for the December event. Having played for clubs including Boca Juniors, Corinthians, West Ham United, Manchester United, Manchester City, Juventus, and Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, the preliminary guest list spans multiple eras of international football.
