The numbers behind Odegaard's 250 Arsenal matches

Martin Odegaard reached 250 Arsenal appearances in our UEFA Champions League clash against Slavia Prague.

Arriving from Real Madrid on an initial loan in January 2021 before making the deal permanent that summer, the Norwegian has led by example in that time, helping us return to the Champions League, reach the final of the competition, and lift the Premier League title for the first time since 2004.

In honour of our captain reaching the huge milestone in N5, we've taken a look at his standout numbers from his first 250 matches as a Gunner.

CAPTAIN FANTASTIC

Only three captains were younger than Martin Odegaard when he lifted the Premier League trophy in May 2026, cementing himself as a Gunners great.

John Terry in 2005 and 2006, Tim Sherwood in 1995 and Vincent Kompany in 2012 were younger than our skipper, but his impressive captaincy record doesn't stop there.

Martin captained the side for the first time against Southampton in April 2022 before becoming our permanent skipper in the summer of 2022. Since then, Martin has guided us to a top two finish in each of the past four seasons, winning the league last year.

The Norwegian has 107 wins from 164 matches in which he's started as skipper, the highest win rate of any of our captains since the start of the 1988/89 season.

Martin is just six games away from matching Patrick Vieira's number of games as Arsenal captain, but still has a way to go to reach Tony Adams, who officially became captain at the start of 1988 and skippered more than 500 matches.

CREATIVE GENIUS

Our attacking midfielder has been at the heart of our creativity since his arrival at Emirates Stadium from Spain.

Only Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has created more chances since Martin made his debut in January 2021.

His 44 assists puts him eighth on the list of goals set up since his debut by Premier League players, with Bruno Fernandes also leading the way on 89. Bukayo Saka ranks fourth with 56 assists since January 2021.

Martin has also been exceptional at moving the attack along.

Since his first appearance, Martin has made 5287 passes into the final third, with 4271 of those being successfully completed. Only three Premier League players have provided more successful passes into the final third since 2021, showing just how influential Martin has been in the final third of play.

Martin also has 1400 passes into an opponent's penalty area across his 250 appearances, the seventh-highest among Premier League players since 2021.

Since his debut, only Gabriel Magalhaes (260) and Bukayo Saka (256) have made more appearances than Martin.

His number among his teammates shows he's a driving force behind our success.

Only Bukayo (132) has more goal contributions than Martin's 90 since his debut in 2021, and no Gunner has created more chances than our skipper.

After winning the Premier League, Martin has continued to lead by example as we look to build on our domestic success.

Martin ranks second in the squad on high-intensity pressures applied (252), with 143 of those coming within the opponent's half, in distance covered (95.5km) and number of sprints (96) in the first nine Premier League fixtures.

Here are his complete stats from his first 250 matches!
