Chelsea have missed out on qualifying to the quarterfinals of the 2026-2027 Carabao Cup after losing to Liverpool 6-5 in a penalty shootout. Wesley Fofana missed the decisive to hand the win to Liverpool.

The Blues lost to the Reds at Anfield in a round of 16 clash after playing out a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation and Chelsea forward Morgan Rogers described it as the worst way to lose.

Rogers continues his brilliant start to life at Chelsea by scoring a penalty in the 40th minute but his goal was cancelled out by Cody Gakpo’s converted penalty just three minutes later.

Rogers joined Chelsea this offseason from Aston Villa for 117 million pounds, the Englishman has registered five goals and four assists in 11 games in all competitions but was far from thrilled to crash out of the competition.

“It is probably the worst way to lose a game. It was an even game and at times we had the better of it. I had half chances that I’d have liked to have put away.”

“It was one of them that can go either way and you have to accept it” Rogers said to ITV Sports after the game.
