Visiting clubs delivered the decisive blows during the opening legs of the Honduras Liga de Ascenso round-of-16 playoffs, leaving traditional contenders in strong positions heading into the return matches this weekend. Across a slate played between October 31 and November 1, 2026, traveling squads capitalized on defensive lapses to seize commanding margins, while lower-ranked hosts struggled to protect their home turf.

Away Victories Reshape the Playoff Picture

Clubs hitting the road dictated the tempo of the weekend. In Olanchito, Yoro, Vida visited Social Sol and signed a 1-4 victory. That emphatic margin gives the visiting Ceibeños a comfortable cushion for the second leg. Meanwhile, Victoria traveled to Nacaome, Valle, where they secured a 4-2 victory against Pirata, stepping toward the quarterfinals.

Arsenal SAO also turned the tide away from home. Playing in Bonito Oriental against Municipal San Esteban, the club from Cantarranas recovered from a 1-0 halftime deficit to win 1-3. In Santa Rosa de Copán, Parrillas One edged Santa Rosa FC 1-0, completing a successful weekend for visiting outfits.

Not all travelers found things easy. Brasilia managed a 1-1 draw against CD FAS in Río Lindo, Cortés, leaving that series finely balanced, while Santo Domingo Savio and Palestino mirrored that result with a 1-1 stalemate.

Home Sides Fight for Narrow Advantages

While visitors dominated the headlines, two home teams carved out slender leads. AFFI Academia defended home turf in Choluteca on Saturday, October 31, defeating Hondupino 1-0. In Cedeño, the local squad at the Estadio Evaristo Najar also fell to Pumas de Las Vegas, Santa Bárbara.

These tight margins ensure that several ties remain unresolved. The return fixtures are scheduled for the upcoming weekend, though league administrators have not yet finalized the exact dates and kickoff times.
