Como defender Trevoh Chalobah has opened up about his departure from Chelsea, admitting he had hoped to establish himself as a club legend before circumstances took a different turn.
The English defender, who came through Chelsea’s academy, said his ambitions did not unfold as planned but stressed that players must be prepared to adapt to changing situations in their careers.
“I wanted to be a legend [at Chelsea], but sometimes the way we plan things is not how things work out,” Chalobah said.
“As footballers, you’ve always got to be ready to adapt.”
Despite moving on, the defender insisted that Chelsea remains close to his heart, revealing that he continues to follow the club’s matches and maintain contact with players and staff.
“Chelsea means everything to me. I’m still watching the games, keeping in contact with the players and staff,” he added.
His journey reflects the challenges young players can face when attempting to secure long-term places at top clubs, where competition for positions and changing plans can influence their careers.
Now at Como, the defender will be looking to establish himself in Italy while maintaining the strong personal ties he has built with Chelsea over the years.
