Karela United coach Nurudeen Amadu believes tactical discipline, proper planning and player development are essential if his side are to improve their away form in the Ghana Premier League.
The Pride and Passion lads travel to Swedru All Blacks on Sunday for their matchweek seven fixture, having lost all three away matches this season.
Amadu acknowledged that securing results on the road requires more than simply approaching matches with the desire to win, stressing the importance of preparation and decision-making during games.
“It's not going to be easy. Winning away is not something you can just get up and do,” he said.
“There should be constructive planning, and you need players who are tactically disciplined and who do everything right in key moments of the game before you can get results.”
The coach believes his team are gradually improving despite their difficulties away from home.
“It's getting better because, since our loss to Samartex, the number of goals we concede has been reducing, and that means there is improvement,” he said.
Amadu added that experience and the players’ ability to read games would be crucial to their development.
“So, it means that sometimes it's about planning, preparation, the players' tactical development, how they mature, how they read games and how they improve,” he said.
Karela have gone eight consecutive away league matches without a win, with their last victory on the road coming against Dreams FC in February.
They face an All Blacks side that have lost just once in their last 18 home league matches at the Swedru Sports Stadium.
Amadu will hope his team can translate their gradual improvement into a positive result on Sunday and begin reversing their poor away record.
