Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has urged supporters to turn out in numbers for Sunday’s Ghana Premier League clash against Aduana FC, calling on them to help the defending champions maintain their position among the league leaders.
The Mauve and Yellow welcome Aduana to the T&A Park for an elite Round 8 encounter as they look to recover from last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to FC Samartex, their first loss of the 2026/27 campaign.
Tanko believes the supporters have an important role to play as Medeama seek an immediate response and valuable points in the title race.
“For the fans who want to come and support us, I always say we are doing this together. They have been supporting us since last year, even when things are not going well. I hope that they will come so that we can maintain our first position,” he said.
The coach also acknowledged the pain surrounding a recent tragedy and extended his condolences to the affected family.
“We give our condolences to the family, and it’s a painful exit. But I think God will comfort them,” he added.
Medeama sit third with 14 points from seven matches, level with Samartex and Hearts of Oak. They have scored 13 goals, the highest tally in the league so far.
Aduana occupy fourth place with 13 points after recording a 1-0 victory over AshantiGold in their previous fixture.
The narrow gap between the sides makes Sunday’s meeting particularly important, with a win potentially strengthening Medeama’s position in the congested standings.
