Como sporting director Carlalberto Ludi has moved to address speculation surrounding Nico Paz's future, insisting that the Argentine midfielder remains fully committed to the Italian club despite growing interest from Real Madrid and Arsenal. The 22-year-old has attracted considerable attention following his impressive performances, with several European giants reportedly monitoring his development.
Paz has established himself as one of the exciting attacking talents in Italian football, producing performances that have strengthened his reputation across Europe. His contribution was particularly noticeable during Como's remarkable 9-1 victory over Lens in France, a result that further demonstrated the team's attacking quality and highlighted the midfielder's importance.
Real Madrid are reportedly leading the competition to bring their former academy graduate back to the Santiago Bernabeu. The Spanish giants have maintained an important contractual advantage over Como through a buy-back agreement that could allow them to re-sign the player in the future.
According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, Madrid possess an €80 million buy-back clause that becomes valid in the summer of 2027. The arrangement gives the Spanish club an opportunity to regain control of Paz's future, potentially making it difficult for other interested teams to secure his services.
Madrid originally allowed the Argentine to leave for Como in a deal worth approximately €6 million. However, his development in Italy has significantly increased his value, prompting Como to secure his full rights through a club-record agreement reportedly worth €60 million. The investment reflects the Italian club's confidence in his abilities and their determination to build around him.
Speaking during an interview with Radio Radio, Ludi acknowledged the repeated speculation connecting Como players with Real Madrid. However, he insisted that the club remained satisfied with its agreement involving Paz and had no immediate reason to consider his departure.
The sporting director also confirmed that Real Madrid retained a buy-back option but emphasised that the midfielder continued to be an important member of Como's squad. He suggested that any potential transfer would need to be handled carefully because of the positive relationship between the two clubs.
Ludi further acknowledged that a possible departure would represent a significant financial transaction for Como. Nevertheless, he indicated that both parties would approach the situation cooperatively if circumstances eventually made a transfer necessary.
Como's confidence in retaining Paz is also influenced by his previous decision to reject an opportunity to return to Real Madrid. The midfielder reportedly chose to remain in Italy because he was concerned about struggling to secure regular first-team football at the Santiago Bernabeu.
That consideration could become important again when the next summer transfer window arrives. Real Madrid possess several talented attacking players, meaning competition for positions could make it difficult for Paz to guarantee consistent involvement if he returns.
Arsenal's reported interest adds another dimension to the situation, as the Premier League club could potentially offer an alternative destination if the midfielder becomes available.
For now, Como remain focused on benefiting from Paz's performances rather than allowing transfer speculation to disrupt their plans. However, Real Madrid's contractual advantage means the Spanish giants could ultimately have considerable influence over where the Argentine midfielder plays in the future.
