According to a report by BBC Sport on Sunday, October 18, 2026, Arsenal claimed a hard-fought 1-0 Premier League victory over Nottingham Forest, with Noni Madueke scoring a late winner to secure all three points after a goalless first half.
Arsenal dominated possession in the opening period but struggled to turn their control into goals. Bukayo Saka created several opportunities, while Kai Havertz came close to scoring but sent his effort narrowly wide from inside the penalty area.
Nottingham Forest threatened through counterattacks and set pieces, with Dan Ndoye firing wide after receiving a pass from Liam Delap. David Raya remained alert to the danger, while Xaver Schlager tested the Arsenal goalkeeper shortly before the interval.
Forest increased the pressure after the restart, forcing Arsenal to deal with several dangerous attacks. Raya produced an excellent save to deny Murillo’s header from a corner, while Delap had another attempt blocked inside the penalty area.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta responded by introducing Noni Madueke, Viktor Gyokeres, Jurrien Timber and Mikel Merino in an effort to strengthen his side’s attacking threat.
Declan Rice came close to breaking the deadlock before Madueke eventually found the decisive goal in the 80th minute. Rice supplied the winger, whose effort from the edge of the penalty area took a deflection before beating Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Matz Sels.
Forest pushed hard for an equaliser during stoppage time but could not find a way through Arsenal’s defence. Chris Wood saw his effort cleared off the goal line, while Murillo fired narrowly wide and another attempt from Delap was stopped by a crucial block.
Arsenal held on to secure a valuable victory, with Madueke’s late strike proving decisive in a closely contested Premier League encounter.
