According to a report by Barca Universal on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, Barcelona players Raphinha and Rodri have taken steps to improve unity within the squad following the team's back-to-back defeats against Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid.
Reports indicate that the two players helped organise a barbecue for the team at Barcelona's Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper training facility on Wednesday. The 90-minute gathering was attended by head coach Hansi Flick, his coaching staff and members of the first-team squad.
The initiative came after a challenging period for Barcelona, who suffered a 4-2 defeat to PSG before subsequently losing to Real Madrid. The consecutive losses have placed greater responsibility on the team's senior figures to help restore confidence and maintain a positive atmosphere in the dressing room.
Raphinha, who serves as Barcelona's first captain, has already addressed his teammates, urging them to remain composed and learn from their defeat in Paris. The Brazilian winger is regarded as a leader who sets an example through his performances and encourages the squad to respond positively to setbacks.
Rodri, meanwhile, has also become an influential presence since joining Barcelona during the summer transfer window. Although he is not among the club's five officially designated captains, reports suggest that he has participated in tactical discussions and worked closely with Flick to help his teammates understand and implement the manager's instructions on the pitch.
The pair bring different but complementary leadership qualities to the team. While Raphinha is more vocal and visibly leads during matches, Rodri is admired for his composure, experience and ability to guide teammates through difficult periods.
Barcelona will be hoping the gathering helps strengthen relationships within the squad and restore team morale ahead of their upcoming fixtures against Alaves and Aston Villa. The Catalan side will then prepare for a challenging trip to face Atletico Madrid.
