Everton manager David Moyes has dismissed speculation that his club are preparing to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford during the January transfer window, insisting that no recruitment plans have been finalised. According to FootballTransfers on Friday, November 6, 2026, the Scottish manager has not confirmed any interest in bringing the England international to Goodison Park.
Rashford returned to Manchester United during the summer after spending the previous campaign on loan at Barcelona. However, his second spell at Old Trafford has not developed as expected, with the attacker failing to score in eight appearances across competitions.
His difficulties have been compounded by a hip injury that has kept him out of action. The combination of limited contributions and fitness concerns has raised questions about his long-term future at United, with reports suggesting he could consider another move when the transfer window opens.
Everton have emerged as one of the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation. The Merseyside side are understood to have discussed the possibility of signing the 28-year-old as they consider ways to improve their attacking options for the second half of the season.
The club already strengthened their forward department during the summer by bringing in Tyrique George and securing Jack Grealish on loan. Nevertheless, Rashford’s potential availability has continued to generate interest, with his experience at the highest level making him an attractive option for teams seeking additional attacking quality.
Moyes was questioned about Everton’s plans for January recruitment ahead of their meeting with Coventry City. However, he avoided encouraging speculation about possible arrivals and made it clear that the club had not yet established a transfer strategy for the winter window.
“The current group we’ve got are doing excellent,” Moyes said, expressing satisfaction with the commitment and performances of his existing players despite the team experiencing an inconsistent run of results.
The manager also suggested that Everton could have been in a stronger position had they managed to retain certain players during the summer transfer window. His comments indicated that departures had affected the squad’s overall strength and influenced the options available to him.
Moyes further warned against placing too much importance on the current league standings, pointing out that small differences in points can significantly change a team's position. He acknowledged that Everton might not possess the same level of quality as some of their Premier League competitors, but remained pleased with the effort shown by his players.
His remarks suggest that Everton are not rushing into decisions about January recruitment, despite reports connecting them with Rashford. The manager appears more focused on getting the best out of the squad already at his disposal before considering potential additions.
For Rashford, uncertainty remains over what the next stage of his career will look like. His return to United has so far been disappointing, and his current injury has limited his opportunity to respond on the pitch. A change of club could become a possibility in the future, but Everton have yet to publicly indicate that they intend to pursue him.
The January window could provide further clarity, although Moyes’ latest comments suggest that any suggestion of an imminent Everton move for the forward remains premature.
