Old Trafford Is Magic, I Don't Like To Tell The Lads Much About This Place's Magic –Carrick

According to a post by Fabrizio Romano on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has praised the atmosphere at Old Trafford while revealing how he motivated his players to remain positive during half-time.

Carrick explained that he wanted his players to avoid becoming frustrated or disappointed during the interval. Instead, he encouraged them to maintain their belief and remain confident that they could turn the situation around.

“At half time I was trying for them to stay positive and not get frustrated or disappointed,” Carrick said.

The Manchester United manager also highlighted the influence of Old Trafford, describing the stadium as a special place that can inspire the team during difficult moments.

Although Carrick admitted that he does not usually speak much to his players about the stadium's reputation, he believes its atmosphere has a genuine impact on their performances.

“I don't like to tell the lads much about this place's (Old Trafford) magic, but it really does. This place is magic!” he added.

His comments highlight the importance he attaches to the relationship between Manchester United and their home supporters.

Old Trafford has been the setting for several memorable performances and dramatic moments throughout the club's history, with its atmosphere often providing an additional source of motivation for the players.

Carrick's half-time message also reflects his approach to managing difficult situations during matches. Rather than allowing disappointment to affect the team, he wanted his players to remain focused and believe they could produce a response.

Maintaining a positive mentality can be crucial for United when matches become challenging, and Carrick's remarks suggest that he considers both the players' mindset and the support from the stands important to the team's performance.

His praise for Old Trafford further underlines the special place the stadium holds in Manchester United's identity, with the manager believing its atmosphere can give the team an extra lift when it matters most.
