Karim Zito Reacts After FC AshantiGold 04 Share the Spoils With Asante Kotoko

FC AshantiGold 04 head coach Karim Zito has expressed satisfaction with his team's performance after they played out a 1-1 draw against Asante Kotoko, admitting that both sides created opportunities in a competitive encounter.

Zito acknowledged that his players had several chances to win the match but praised the opposing goalkeeper for producing an impressive performance to keep his team in the contest. Despite missing opportunities to secure all three points, the coach was pleased that FC AshantiGold 04 avoided defeat.

The match saw both teams enjoy periods of control, with FC AshantiGold 04 taking the initiative during the first half before the contest became more balanced after the break. Both sides created scoring opportunities, but neither managed to establish a decisive advantage.

Speaking after the game, Zito explained that the result reflected the balance between the two teams and the chances they created throughout the encounter.

“We had a lot of opportunities, but their goalkeeper was at his best. In the first half we took it, and in the second half we shared it. We created opportunities, and they also had their opportunities,” Zito said.

The coach added that, although his team could have done more with the chances they created, he was satisfied with the final outcome.

“At the end of the day, the 1-1 signifies what happened. At the end of the day, I'm very happy we didn't lose,” he added.

Zito's comments suggest that he recognised both the positives and the areas his team could improve. Creating scoring opportunities is an important part of an effective attacking performance, but converting those chances remains essential if a team wants to turn draws into victories.

The opposing goalkeeper's performance also proved significant, as his interventions prevented FC AshantiGold 04 from making the most of their attacking opportunities.

For Zito, avoiding defeat was an important outcome in a match in which both teams had opportunities to claim victory. The draw means FC AshantiGold 04 will have to build on their performance and continue working on their finishing ahead of their upcoming fixtures.

Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will also take positives from securing a share of the points in a match that remained competitive until the final stages.

The 1-1 result ultimately reflected a closely contested encounter, with both teams showing attacking intent but failing to find the decisive goal. Zito will now hope his players can maintain their ability to create chances while becoming more clinical in front of goal in their next match.
