‘He’s the best player in the world’ — Raphinha makes huge claim about Yamal ahead of Ballon d’Or

Barcelona winger Raphinha has praised teammate Lamine Yamal, declaring the teenage sensation the best footballer in the world ahead of the upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony.

According to a report by Barca Universal, the Brazilian international made the remarks during an interview with CazeTV, where he highlighted Yamal’s exceptional talent and growing influence at Barcelona. Raphinha expressed confidence that the young forward’s performances have placed him ahead of his competitors in world football.

“Lamine is proving that he is the best player in the world right now, and I don’t think there is any room for debate about that,” Raphinha said.

The Brazilian also suggested that the gap between Yamal and the player he considers the second-best footballer globally could be substantial. His comments reflect the high regard in which he holds his teammate and his belief that the teenager has the potential to remain among the sport’s leading figures for years to come.

Yamal has continued to play a significant role in Barcelona’s attack under head coach Hansi Flick. His dribbling ability, creativity, confidence in possession and capacity to influence major matches have helped establish him as one of the club’s most important attacking players.

Despite his young age, the Spanish international has already attracted widespread attention through his performances at club level. His ability to challenge defenders, create opportunities and contribute during crucial moments has raised expectations about what he could achieve throughout his career.

Raphinha’s endorsement adds to the growing recognition Yamal has received from people within the game. Praise from a teammate who regularly shares the pitch with him also illustrates the confidence he has earned within Barcelona’s dressing room.

The upcoming Ballon d’Or ceremony could offer Yamal another opportunity to receive recognition for his achievements. However, the final outcome will be determined by the voting process and the performances of other leading candidates during the award’s assessment period. Raphinha’s opinion represents his personal assessment rather than an indication of how the voting will conclude.

During the same interview, Raphinha also reflected on his own performances for Brazil, admitting that he has found it difficult to reproduce consistently at international level the form he has displayed for Barcelona.

The winger explained that injuries have disrupted his involvement in recent international assignments, limiting his opportunities to build momentum and establish consistency with the national team. Those interruptions have presented a challenge as he seeks to make the same impact for Brazil that he has achieved at club level.

Nevertheless, Raphinha remains an important attacking option for Barcelona, where his experience and contributions continue to benefit the team. His comments about Yamal highlight the admiration the teenager commands among his colleagues, while his reflections on Brazil demonstrate his awareness of the areas where he wants to improve.

As Barcelona continue their campaign, Yamal’s development and Raphinha’s performances will remain important elements of Flick’s attacking plans. The Brazilian’s strong backing of his young teammate further underlines the belief within the squad that Yamal possesses the qualities to compete for football’s most prestigious individual awards.
