Real Madrid are reportedly closing in on an agreement to sign Ghanaian midfielder Latif Issman from Spanish club UD Logroñés as they continue planning improvements to their reserve side, Real Madrid Castilla, ahead of the 2027–28 season.
According to Madrid Universal on Friday, October 30, 2026, the Spanish giants have intensified their pursuit of the 19-year-old after monitoring his progress for an extended period. ESPN journalist Rodra reported that discussions between Real Madrid and Logroñés have advanced considerably, increasing the possibility of an agreement being reached in the near future.
Issman had previously attracted attention from Madrid’s recruitment team, who identified him as a potential addition to Castilla’s midfield. The club reportedly explored the possibility of bringing him to the Spanish capital during an earlier summer transfer window, but the available time was insufficient to complete the proposed move.
That unsuccessful attempt did not end Madrid’s interest. Their recruitment department continued following the Ghanaian’s development and has now renewed efforts to secure his services. Although negotiations are believed to be progressing positively, neither club has officially confirmed that a transfer agreement has been reached.
If the remaining discussions produce the expected outcome, Issman could become part of Castilla’s squad for the 2027–28 campaign. His arrival would also represent an early addition to the reserve team's preparations for the upcoming season, although the proposed transfer remains subject to finalising the terms.
One important issue in the negotiations concerns the midfielder’s contractual release clause. Reports indicate that his current agreement with Logroñés contains a buyout figure of approximately €300,000. It is not yet clear whether Real Madrid intend to activate that clause or negotiate directly with the Spanish club in an attempt to secure more favourable conditions.
The potential signing also fits into Madrid’s established approach to developing young footballers. The club regularly identifies promising prospects, brings them into its development system and provides opportunities for their progress before considering their long-term futures. Some graduates eventually establish themselves in senior football, while others move to different clubs, sometimes generating significant transfer income for Madrid.
The club’s academy, La Fábrica, has consequently become an important part of its wider football and financial structure. Reports have indicated that academy-related transfers generated more than €200 million during the previous summer, demonstrating the financial significance of developing and selling young players.
Castilla has continued receiving attention and investment as Madrid search for emerging talent. Recent additions to the development setup have reportedly included Sergio Martínez, Oscar Naasei and Rayan Zinebi.
Issman’s possible arrival would represent another step in that recruitment strategy. His physical strength and reported ability to cover considerable distances in midfield are among the qualities believed to have attracted Madrid’s attention. The club would hope to help him develop further within its youth structure while assessing his potential for future opportunities.
